Pretrial hearing in Imperial Valley College embezzlement case set

A pretrial hearing in the embezzlement case of a former Imperial Valley College Foundation executive has been scheduled for May 7.

“It’s going to be a contested hearing,” said Deputy District Attorney Jeffery Brooker.

“The defense is trying to prove that she was entitled to a lot of money. How much vacation was she entitled to? How much overtime was she entitled to? There was some sick days. The exact number is hard to pin down,” he added.

Christine Hisel received five years’ probation in 2011 after she pleaded no contest in July 2011 to one charge of grand theft for embezzling $60,000 from the IVC Foundation over a period of two years beginning April 2009.
