Horry County school employee charged with embezzlement

An Horry County Schools employee has been arrested on embezzlement charges.
The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reported that 28-year-old Mandy Diana Bellamy of Longs is charged with embezzlement of public funds.
Bellamy worked in the child care program at Riverside Elementary School in Little River.
A police report said Riverside Elementary staff became suspicious in December when a money bag for the child care program was $170 short.
The report said an audit showed several payments that were never given to the bookkeeper.
The report said staff noticed that Bellamy often offered to take the money bag to the bookkeeper's office.
She has been placed on administrative leave. It was not clear if she has an attorney.
